Capt. Owen Lupton, maker of the Red Drum Rig has created a new Live Bait Rig which is a lighter version of the Puppy Drum Rig, to be used for live bait with your choice of a 1/4 or 1/2 oz. weight. This rig should work well for flounder as well as puppy drum.
Capt. Owen has been fishing the Pamlico Sound for over 50 years and is a respected authority on catching Old Red Drum. His custom, hand-made Old Drum rigs utilize circle hooks on a short leader to increase catch rates and significantly reduce deep-hooking. This results in more successful catch-and-release of these great fish.
